The next time I see you, it will be December!
First, congratulations to Mr. Stone on the birth of his baby boy - very exciting news. Secondly, congratulations to you on how hard you have worked to develop some new Language Arts skills this week. I know it was a bit of a slog but I really hope that engaging with commas in all the ways we did this week will be supportive of your writing work. I'm looking forward to seeing your development with the next piece of writing. Those of you who have handed in your story edits and Touching Spirit Bear comma sheet, thank you. Those who have not, I'd really like to see them. Next Week: Monday, December 3rd - read Touching Spirit Bear to the end of Chapter 20. Friday, December 7th - PD Day - no school for you (said in the "no soup for you" voice) Have a most wonderful weekend!

Lovely to see so many parents over the last couple of days to talk about the amazing progress you all have been making.
Next Week: Monday, November 26 - Political cartoons due (with the working booklet and rubric) and read TSB to the end of chapter 15. Tuesday, November 27 - Economics of Staying in School Workshop - all morning Have a lovely weekend! Between Take Your Kid to Work Day and the Crescent Heights tour, it felt like we were more gone than here this week.
With next week being Parent-Teacher Interviews, it's another short week. It is possible you will see a bit more homework here and there to account for some of the ins and outs. Next Week: Monday - Literary Devices Chart (and Political Cartoon analysis sheet - if you haven't already handed it in. Also, read chapters 6 and 7 from TSB. Thursday - Half day for Interviews Friday - No School for you...not so much for me Have a wonderful weekend! You all have engaged brilliantly with the work we've been doing developing our stories over the course of the last couple of weeks and I'm excited to read them next week. I was especially happy to hear that you've learned something from the writing process and that your third draft is waaaaay better than your first draft.
I'm also pretty impressed with the calibre of work that is going into developing your "Caring for our Watersheds" projects. Really exciting!! Next Week: 1. Monday, November 12th - Hand in your final short stories and read "Touching Spirit Bear" to the end of chapter 5. (I hope you remembered to take your books with you) 2. Wednesday, November 14th - Take Your Kid to Work Day 3. Thursday, November 15th - Crescent Heights High School Tour - in the morning |
