I won't be posting tomorrow so here is one last January post.
We finished our novel, "Refugee". I think I can safely say that almost every one of you was totally invested in the outcome of the novel, and this makes me so happy. If you are interested in reading other novels by this author, his name is Alan Gratz. Next week is a regular looking week and no field studies or activities to post. Do ensure you have your watershed proposal ready for peer edit and your social studies notes completed. Have an awesome long weekend - I know I will :-)

We've done a whole lot of work on sentences this week - fragments too! We will finish up with it next week and then begin more writing, in earnest.
Next Week: Monday, January 28th - Field Study to National Geographic Live - morning only Thursday, January 31st - Report Cards distributed Friday, February 1st - PD Day, no school Have a glorious weekend! Talk to your families about the book we are reading, "Refugee", and the documentaries we've been watching, "8th Fire" and "Elder in the Making".
I know you weren't all in my classroom on Kid Inventors Day but I want to give a huge shout out to all the groups in my class; they came up with some vastly entertaining games. Next Week: Friday, January 24th - PD Day - No school for you. Stay warm and have a wonderful weekend! It was great to have a field study the very first week back! I hope you saw a variety of opportunities for post-secondary education and at the very least, had an opportunity to think about your future and some of what you would enjoy doing in the future.
This week was all about mastering the paragraph and that work will continue on into next week, after which we will start working on our essays. Is that cheering I hear? Next Week: Thursday, January 17th - Kid Inventor Day (morning only) Have a great, homework-free, weekend! |
